The Alba Story

Alba Renewables was founded with a bold vision: to drive the energy transition in Southeast Asia by creating a business platform developing, building, and operating high-quality renewable energy projects that displace coal and accelerate decarbonization.

Our Journey

The vision for Alba began when co-founders Ignacio Miralles de Imperial and Andres Martin Buldu met and recognized the potential for a next-generation renewable energy platform in Southeast Asia.

Alba Renewables was formally launched by three seasoned renewable energy professionals, Ignacio Miralles de Imperial, Andres Martin Buldu and Andrew Affleck to provide Alba with a strong and complementary track record.

The team expanded with the key leadership addition of Chris Lim in the Philippines, further strengthening Alba’s capability to deliver large-scale utility projects.

Alba opened the Thailand office and Kam Ho became a strategic investor in, and advisor to the Group.

Since inception, Alba has rapidly grown into an integrated Independent Power Producer (IPP), establishing itself as a leader in the renewable energy sector with a pipeline of projects across multiple Southeast Asian markets.

Our Growth and Impact Milestones

Secured $2.5 million in funding from SCAF for operational and development expenses.

Signed a $25 million convertible loan agreement with SUSI Partners to accelerate project construction.

Formed a joint venture with TechEnergie to initially deliver 169 MW of solar projects, with the first 65 MW currently under construction.

Expanded from a founding team of three to 23 professionals within 18 months of launch, reflecting rapid organizational growth.

Built a robust pipeline of renewable energy projects, totalling:

1,033 MW at pre-feasibility stage
895 MW in early-stage development
300 MW in mid-stage development

Our Future

Alba Renewables aims to become the leading renewable energy IPP in Southeast Asia within the next five years. With a current focus on the Philippines, we are expanding into Thailand and will enter a third regional market within the next 24 months.

By 2028, Alba expects to have a multi-gigawatt portfolio of operational, under-construction, and advanced-stage development assets, reinforcing its role as a key player in the region’s clean energy transition.
